 14TH INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS CONFERENCE
20-23 SEPTEMBER 2020
INTRODUCTION
The 2020 IBC conference will be hosted at the beautiful Speke Resort and Conference Centre on
the shore of Lake Victoria in Kampala, Uganda from 20 to 23 September 2020. Your academic
expertise and presence are welcomed and we therefore kindly request you to peruse the content
of this call for papers and submit your papers on or before the due date.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION OF THE RESORT
Lake Victoria is Africa’s largest lake by surface area and was named after Queen Victoria by the
explorer John Hanning Speke, the first Briton to document it. Speke accomplished this in 1858,
while on an expedition with Richard Francis Burton to locate the source of the Nile River. Lake
Victoria is the world’s second-largest lake by surface area after Lake Superior in North America
and is the world’s largest tropical lake.
The Speke Resort and Conference Centre is in the neighbourhood of Munyonyo in the southeastern
part of Kampala along the northern shores of Lake Victoria. Kampala is the capital and
largest city of Uganda.
The hotel is one of five 4-star hotels in Kampala, as rated by the Uganda Tourism Board in
June 2015. The resort lies adjacent to the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort. This location is
approximately 13 kilometres by road, southeast of Kampala’s central business district. The resort
was commissioned in 2007 in time to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting
2007.

AIM OF THE CONFERENCE
The 14th IBC 2020 conference has three main goals. The first goal is to provide an international

to have their work validated and benchmarked within the benevolent academic and professional
community. The final goal is to create a pleasant and enjoyable environment to serve the first two
goals, where delegates can also relax, get to know their fellow academia informally, and truly build
their networks.

All the previous IBC conferences, including the 2018 conference held at the Le Meridien Hotel

Pride Arabella Hotel & Spa in Hermanus, South Africa, is undergoing the rigorous process to
qualify for a subsidy. (We positively await the outcome; however, take note that this is normally a
two-year process at DHET.)
